What a cute, cute Halloween book, Ten Little Tricksters, which you can do so much with for preschool/Kindergarten children. First, it’s about Halloween and trick-or-treating, so you can share it at this time of year. Second, it counts down from 10 to 1, starting with “Ten Little Ghosts out on Halloween” and ending with “One Little Pumpkin out on Halloween.” Then each page has a pattern to it, so children will be able to read along or even echo read. Finally, there are rhyming words–words for 10 and 9 rhyme, then 8 and 7, and so on. Freak! Freak! Freak! and Creak! Creak! Creak!
Now the text is cute and the illustrations are even cuter (if that is possible). Kevin Collier has done an amazing job taking what could be scary costumes and making them fun. Boys will love this book because there are zombie costumes and ogres, too. Little girls will love the witches and cats. Not an Elsa to be found (which is what, of course, my 3-year-old wants to be).
I’m sure this will be a classroom and child favorite! I’m putting it on my Kindle now, and I can’t wait to share it with my daughter. I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review, and I’m so lucky I did.
If you are interested in checking out Ten Little Tricksters by Penelope Anne Cole (who has also written Magical Matthew and Magical Mea), then you can find it on Amazon, Guardian Angel Publishing website, and Barnes and Noble, too. Give your little ones a treat this Halloween that won’t rot their teeth!
